Three Batten Ranges for Different Installation Needs
Choosing Knightsbridge LED battens starts with the conditions in which they will operate. A dry utility room has different requirements from a dusty workshop or an exposed outbuilding. TorlanCOMM, BATM and Helix One offer different approaches to protection, lighting adjustment and modular functionality.
TorlanCOMM: Adjustable Non-Corrosive Lighting
TorlanCOMM dual-wattage, tri-CCT fittings combine IP65 and IK08 protection with a choice of power and colour-temperature settings. They provide flexibility when specifying lighting for different spaces. The range includes sensor and emergency variants; check each listing for the functions supplied.
BATM: Modular Indoor Battens
BATM offers modular battens for indoor lighting projects. Standard models provide 4000K illumination, with compatible plug-in sensor and emergency accessories available. The wider family also includes high-output, corner-mounted, DALI and adjustable models, each with its own specifications.
Helix One: Protected Modular Fittings
Helix One 230V fittings combine IP66 and IK10 protection with a non-corrosive polycarbonate body and stainless steel clips. These 4000K fittings support compatible optional microwave sensor and emergency modules, making them worth considering where environmental protection and modular functionality matter.
Compare the exact model: The descriptions above explain the manufacturer ranges. Refer to the products listed on this page for current availability, included features and compatible accessories.
Match Length, Light Output and Colour to Your Space
Batten length helps you plan the installation, but it does not tell you how much light a fitting delivers. Compare the luminaire lumen output alongside its dimensions, light distribution and mounting height. A garage workbench, storage aisle and utility room may need different lighting levels even when a similar-length fitting will fit the ceiling.
Where wattage is selectable, the available settings let the installer choose between specified power levels. Check the corresponding light output at each setting rather than assuming all battens of the same length perform alike.
CCT selection changes the appearance of white light. It does not mean every fitting is dimmable or that the colour can be changed using a wall switch. Check the product’s adjustment method and dimming specification. Within these families, fixed-colour and adjustable models should be compared separately.
When replacing fluorescent lighting, compare the new fitting’s overall dimensions and fixing positions as well as its light output. Nominal lengths such as 4ft or 5ft are size descriptions; use the measurements in millimetres when checking the available space.
Plan Protection, Sensors and Emergency Operation
Select the enclosure protection around the installation conditions. An IP20 indoor batten should not be treated as interchangeable with an IP65 or IP66 non-corrosive fitting. Check exposure to dust, water and impact, together with the manufacturer’s location and mounting instructions.
Sensor operation can be useful where lighting is needed only when an area is occupied. For modular fittings, confirm the accessory is approved for the exact model and voltage. Also check whether the product includes a sensor or needs one to be ordered separately.
Emergency lighting requires a suitable fitting or approved conversion kit, selected as part of the installation’s emergency lighting design. Check emergency output, duration, operating mode and testing arrangements. A standard batten does not provide emergency illumination simply because an emergency accessory exists within the same family.
Check what is included before ordering: Confirm the supply voltage, mounting components, selected functions and any separately supplied modules. Have your electrician verify compatibility and install the fitting and accessories in accordance with their instructions.
LED Batten Lighting FAQs
What is the difference between TorlanCOMM, BATM and Helix One?
TorlanCOMM dual-wattage, tri-CCT models offer adjustable non-corrosive lighting with IP65 and IK08 protection. BATM provides modular indoor battens with several specialist variants. Helix One 230V provides 4000K modular non-corrosive fittings rated IP66 and IK10. Compare the exact model for included controls and accessories.
Are all Knightsbridge LED battens suitable for damp locations?
No. Check the individual fitting’s IP rating and installation instructions. IP20 battens are not protected against water, while higher-rated non-corrosive fittings offer additional protection. Suitability still depends on the location, exposure and installation method.
What do dual wattage and tri-CCT mean?
Dual wattage means the fitting has two selectable power settings. Tri-CCT means it offers three selectable white-light colour temperatures. Check the product specifications for the available settings and adjustment method. These features do not automatically mean the fitting is dimmable.
Can I add a sensor or emergency module to a modular batten?
Compatible BATM and Helix One models support optional modular accessories. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility information for the exact fitting, accessory and voltage. Modules may be sold separately and should be fitted according to the installation instructions.
Do these LED battens need separate tubes?
The TorlanCOMM, BATM and Helix One fittings described here use integrated LED light sources rather than separately purchased fluorescent or LED tubes. Check each product’s maintenance instructions for information about serviceable components.
How do I choose a replacement for a fluorescent batten?
Compare light output, overall dimensions, fixing positions, supply requirements and environmental protection. Do not select solely by the old tube length or wattage. Check whether the installation also requires sensor controls or emergency lighting, and have an electrician confirm the replacement is suitable.
