Find the Right Philips GLS LED Bulb
Philips GLS LED bulbs combine the familiar shape of a traditional household light bulb with modern, energy-efficient LED technology. GLS stands for General Lighting Service and describes the classic rounded bulb used in table lamps, ceiling fittings, wall lights and many other everyday light fixtures.
The Philips range includes A60 and larger A67 bulbs in different brightness levels, cap fittings, colour temperatures and finishes. Before ordering, check the cap on your existing bulb and decide how bright and warm you would like the light to be.
Choose Between B22 and E27 Fittings
The first thing to check is the bulb fitting:
- B22 bayonet cap: Has two pins on the side and fits by pushing the bulb in and twisting it into place. It is also commonly described as BC or bayonet cap.
- E27 Edison screw: Has a threaded metal base that screws into the lampholder. It may also be described as ES or Edison screw.
If you are unsure, remove your existing bulb and compare the cap with the product photographs and specifications. The cap must match your light fitting.
Choose Brightness by Lumens
LED bulbs use fewer watts than older incandescent bulbs, so lumens provide a better guide to brightness. If you are replacing an old bulb, the following figures are a useful starting point:

Select the Right Colour Temperature
Colour temperature describes whether the light appears warm, neutral or cool. It is measured in kelvins, shown as K.
- 2700K Extra Warm White: Creates a soft, comfortable atmosphere suited to living rooms, bedrooms and dining areas.
- 3000K Warm White: Provides a slightly cleaner warm light that works well in hallways, kitchens and open-plan family spaces.
- 4000K Cool White: Produces a brighter, more practical appearance for kitchens, bathrooms, home offices and utility areas.
Selected Philips DimTone bulbs change from approximately 2700K to a warmer 2200K appearance as they are dimmed, helping to create a more relaxed atmosphere at lower light levels.

Dimmable, Clear or Frosted?
Choose a dimmable Philips GLS bulb if the light is connected to a dimmer switch. The bulb should be paired with a compatible LED dimmer to achieve smooth, reliable dimming.
Clear filament bulbs have a traditional decorative appearance and work particularly well in exposed fittings. Frosted bulbs soften the appearance of the light and are often better for lampshades, pendants and fittings where reduced glare is preferred.
